At Anchors we value, respect and understand
the contribution that parents make towards their child’s
development and learning. We hope to continue this by providing
support, guidance and encouragement to parents as their
child’s first educator.
In the term before your child starts (Midshipman)
we invite you and your child to a nursery session. Your
child can play whilst the parent/carer is talked through
an initial child profile, which includes details of special
needs, health matters etc, to help us with our planning
to build on the particular stage (physical, emotional, social
and intellectual) that your child has reached. You will
also be given an Anchors Nursery Handbook containing details
of our policies, the curriculum and other useful information.
In the term before progression to Admirals, there is a curriculum
evening where you can gain a clearer understanding of our
approach in the morning sessions.
Parents’ evenings are arranged twice
each year to provide specific opportunities for parents/carers
to discuss their child’s progress with a member of
staff. During the summer term, for each child in Admirals
leaving for big school we complete a record of achievement
form and write a report. At Anchors the children come first,
and staff will always make time for any parent/carer who
has concerns.
A termly newsletter is also sent
out to all, and a regularly updated parents’ notice
board is situated by the Nursery door.
