Setting Sail
Anchors is a small private nursery school,
situated in the grounds of October House in the village
of Rotherwick in Hampshire. The accommodation consists of
a single storey building, specially adapted for pre-school
children. The nursery has its own fenced garden equipped
for outdoor play.

Anchors is registered to take up to 18
children per session. The nursery operates five morning
sessions (09:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday) and four afternoon
sessions (12:30 to 15:15, Monday to Thursday) in three school
terms.
Children are accepted from their 2nd birthday.
They join our afternoon class (Midshipman). In this class
the youngest children get to know the staff, each other
and their surroundings gradually before moving on to more
formal lessons. Children typically attend 2 afternoons per
week initially, increasing during the year to 4 afternoons
per week. The precise attendance pattern for each child
is determined in consultation with parents/carers.

Children will then normally move to the
morning class (Admirals) for their second year. By now children
have usually become more independent and are eager for a
more structured learning environment. This class runs on
a 5 morning per week attendance basis only. This continuity
enables the children to cover all aspects of early learning
goals preparing them for entry into their new school. There
is also the opportunity for the children in the Admirals
class to do full days, providing space is available (early
booking is advisable).
We have a simple uniform, consisting
of polo shirts and sweatshirts with the Anchors logo and
joggers’ shorts or skirts. All items are available
from the Nursery.
